RELEVANT USE INFORMATION ABOUT UV RESIN IN GENERAL. READ OUR TIPS AND INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USE.
HOW TO USE THE RESINS
The curing of the resin should be done so that the UV lamp is positioned approximately 2 centimetres from the adhesive surface. We recommend using UV lamps with a wavelength of 365. All GULFF UV lamps operate at that wavelength. Colourless GULFF resins dry to a tack-free state in approximately 3-5 seconds, depending on the amount of resin. In the case of coloured resins, the curing time of the adhesive is affected by the amount of dye used in the resin (pigment density) and the dye itself. It is clear that a light colour transmits light more easily than a dark colour. White colour or glitters in turn reflect light away, reducing the effect of the light. Coloured adhesives dry in an average of 3-10 seconds, depending on the power of the UV lamp. Important notice: UV resin warms up in response to UV light. Allow the resin to cool for 5 seconds after using the UV lamp before touching the surface. Dirt and grease in the fingers easily adhere to the hot surface and can make the surface sticky or stained.
WHY RESIN GETS THICKER OVER TIME
UV curable resin is prepared by combining two or more ingredients together. The product is formed when the ingredients react with each other. The reaction does not stop but continues slowly. Thus, the resin eventually gets thicker and its properties suffer. In this case, the resin does not necessarily form a non-sticky surface either. The product will eventually be virtually unusable. The colour added to the resin accelerates the deterioration of quality. Thus, coloured resins have a shorter shelf life. The reaction is also accelerated by warm storage space. Cool storage space in turn slows down the reaction. The coolness makes the resin momentarily stiffer but the properties return as the resin warms up.
PRODUCT COLOUR QUALITY
We recommend keeping all of our resins bottle upside down. The dyes and glitters used in the products settle to the bottom of the bottle over time and require mixing. To mix, remove the plastic resin applicator at the tip of the bottle (easy to remove and put back on) and mix the contents with a small stick. The aforementioned storage position recommendation has also been found to extend the shelf life of the product.
ASSESSMENT OF THE SHELF LIFE OF GULFF PRODUCTS (Best before date is only a recommendation. Regardless of the date, the product may be suitable for its purpose for a long time):
- GULFF Biodegradable colourless resins 24-36* months depending on the storing conditions
- GULFF Biodegradable FL. colour resins 24* months depending on the storing conditions
- GULFF Biodegradable Ambulance 12-18* months depending on the storing conditions
- GULFF Biodegradable UV Varnish 12-24* months depending on the storing conditions
- Plant based resins generally max.12* months
*Please note that from the moment of manufacture, the resin mixture slowly begins to change shape. No resin product has the same property at the time of manufacture and 1 year after manufacture. It is good to note that adhesives with a thin viscosity retain their properties better.
